 Apart from supporting education programs in the wider community, Tibet Charity India also runs classes at the main building in McLeod Ganj. Classes are provided in English Language and Computer Skills. The courses are free of charge for members of the Tibetan community. The idea is to give educational opportunities to people who fall outside the existing structure - those people who are either too old to attend the subsidized schools or do not have enough money to pay for education, get a second chance at TCEC. |
| The Students |
The students are Tibetans in exile living in India, some of whom have been through the education systems and others have no previous formal education at all. Most were not born in India and came here to be educated since it is almost impossible for them to get an education in Tibet. Some of them are very recent arrivals. Among the students are many Buddhist monks who have traveled from monasteries in South India. The students are extremely enthusiastic and take full advantage of the opportunities given them.
