Computer Classes

The computer classes were started originally to provide much needed IT skills to people looking for work. Many have a good all round education but not the computer skills to compete in the job market.

Classes are held in the Computer Lab at the TC main building from Monday to Friday between March and December.

The computer lab can accommodate 8 students in each class and additional to that we accommodate students who have laptop. Since we have 3, two hour classes we are able to teach more than 30 students each day. Students are given about 1hr lecture and during the remaining 1hr they are adviced to do practical job on computer in order to increase their performance skill.


The following are the classes we will be running in 2011

  • Beginner (for Absolute Beginners).
    • Introduction to Computers:
      1. Computer Peripherals:
        1. Input: Mouse, Keyboard, Microphone/mike, Scanner, Game Controller, etc.
        2. Output: Monitor, Printer, Speaker, Projector, etc.
        3. Central Processing Unit
        4. Storage Devices: Static- Hard disk, Pen drive/USB/Flash drive, Floppy, CD, DVD, etc
          Dynamic- Random Access Memory (RAM), Read Only Memory (ROM), Cache, Register.
      2. What is hardware and sofware with examples?
      3. Types of Operating Systems
    • Working with Windows.
    • Typing Skills ( English and Tibetan).
    • NotePad
    • Microsoft Paint.
    • WordPad
    • Internet and Networking (very basic).

  • Intermediate
    • Microsoft Office
      • Word
      • Excel
      • PowerPoint
      • Access
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Adobe PageMaker
    • Introduction to HTML(Hyper Text Markup Language)
    • A Project

  • Advanced (Web Design).
    • Hypertext Mark-up Language (HTML).
    • DHTML + CSS (Cascading Style Sheet)
    • JavaScript
    • Introduction to XML
    • A Project

From time to time we run ad-hoc courses, arranged by professionals from the IT sector. In 2008 we ran short courses in Networking and Internet Security.
