On 16th Sep 2011, a health talk was given to Tibet Charity students n Diabetes. We started our talk with a Power Point Presentation at 11am in the Tibet Charity hall. Around 60 students were present for the talk. Diabetes is a disease usually common in the Tibetan society, but due to lack of information and awareness, many of our people don’t know about it. So with the help of the Power Point presentation taught them the meaning, risk, signs and symptoms, prevention, treatment and complications of Diabetes. Later we did questioning, discussion and feedback from the students. After the presentation, blood sugar screening was done for 40students. Among them we found 4 people had high blood sugar level. (i.e. More than 130mg/dl). For them we gave special advice about diet and care of feet. Lastly they understood well and they were very happy to know about it. |

Train the trainer course was provided by a team from St. John’s Ambulance, Wales to the staff of our health department. The training started from 24th Oct 2011 and went on for four days. The training was from 9.30am to 4.30pm. This is the 4th time we got training from St.John Ambulance and they provided basic first Aid 3times earlier. Now this time, Mr. Richard Pearce (Training Development officer) and the team trained us. This training is very helpful to us. As there is lack of knowledge and awareness in our society. So we hope to spread our knowledge to many people who are in need. At the end of the training, trainers test the trainees and trainees receive certificates. We thank Mr. Des, Mr. Richard and the team from St.John Ambulance, Wales for providing us this special course and also for spending precious time with us. |
