When you make a General Donation we will spend the money where it is most urgently needed. Be assured that all the money you give will go straight to the people you want to help because none of the private donations made to Tibet Charity are spent on administration.

You can make a General Donation in cash or in kind or choose to have your money used for a specific purpose within one of the projects listed below. If you wish your donation to be spent on a specific project then after making the online donation send an email to the Director expressing your wishes.

Adopt a Grandparent

Tibet Charity is always looking for people who are willing to sponsor destitute elderly people who have no-one to take care of them.

This is a serious commitment that will change someone's life and we are only interested in hearing from you if you are willing to commit to supporting at least one individual for the remainder of their lives.

To Adopt a Grandparent we require a minimum commitment of Rs. 1200/month.
Please contact the Director with the case number of the grandparent you wish to adopt.

Scholarship Program

If you want to support a student at University we ask that you make a commitment to support them for their entire study period, even if you aren't in a position to pay all the money at one time.
We will award the scholarships on the basis of the money that has been pledged so we need to know in advance how much money will be coming in when we award the scholarships.

Please contact the Director if you would like to support the scholarship program.

It is also possible to make a limited donation to the scholarship scheme as a "General Donation". That will be a one-off donation submitted online or through the Director. If you donate in this way then you can give as much or as little as you like.

Time Period Cost of Scholarships
6 months Rs. 15,000
12 months Rs. 30,000 - 35,000
1 year and above Rs. 30,000 – 35,000 per annum

Student Study Materials

The English classes are offered free of charge to students but it is necessary to ask the students to buy a coursebook and 2 homework CDs for each level. Tibet Charity has kept the costs down as much as possible.

You can cover the costs of as as many students as you like, either for a single term, for the whole year or even for a student to do ALL the courses from Absolute Beginner to Upper Intermediate. Your doantion will secure study materials for students who would otherwise be unable to study.

Length of study for one student Materials
One term Rs. 200
One year Rs. 400
All 5 levels (Beginner to Upper Intermediate) Rs. 1000

Support for Volunteer Teachers

The native English language teachers who run the classes at our Education Centre are unpaid volunteers. We do not have the means to offer them any financial support. Some teachers are in a strong financial position and do not need our help.

However, other equally harworking, dedicated and experienced teachers simply do not have enough money to stay on with us and they have to leave in the middle of a term. This is detrimental to both the school and the students.

Tibet Charity would like to offer some financial assistance to teachers who stay at least one month. We would like to pay for their accomodation. The priority will be on helping teachers who are willing to stay on until the end of the term. We have made arranagements with local hotels to get the best deals possible. Prices are as below.

Time Period Amount
1 month Rs. 5,500
4.5 months Rs. 24,750
