Tibet Charity bids farewell to Mrs. Tsering Lhamo la

Tibet Charity recently bid a sad farewell to Mrs. Tsering Lhamo la who worked as the director of the Tibet Charity Health Section since 1st January 2005 until 9th of July 2010.

At a farewell party for Mrs. Tsering Lhamo la, Mr. Tsering Thundup gave a heartwarming speech. He spoke about her many years of service with the organization, and how her compassionate service has benefitted the less fortunate people in the community here in Dharamsala.

Mrs. Tsering Lhamo la’s association with Tibet Charity began even before the Tibet Charity office in India was established. She had been overseeing the health section of Tibet Charity Denmark independently before an office was opened in Dharamsala.

During her stay here, she carried out her duties with full sincerity and dedication. She dedicated herself to the old, poor, sick and needy. She treated them with utmost love and affection. To every patient, she gave herself fully and provided counseling for those in mental

and physical distress. In doing so, she gave hope to many people who had lost hope in life.

Mr. Tsering Thundup explained how Mrs. Tsering Lhamo la started the successful Home Nursing Program at Tibet Charity here in Dharamsala. As part of this program, she educated and trained groups of young nurses to visit the homes of people in need and administer the necessary medical care. Duties of these nurses include administering medication, providing medical and emotional counseling, general at-home care, as well as escorting them to the proper hospital if needed. Such was the success of this program, and the services of Mrs. Tsering Lhamo la’s home nurses, that the program will be continued with a new focus on reaching people in remote areas.

Seeing the tremendous impact on the people in need, we will sorely miss her presence here in Dharamsala. More than us, the Tibetan community here in Dharamsala and elsewhere will miss her dearly.

But at the same time we take comfort in the fact that she will be joining her family in Canada. Her family needs her as much as we do, even though we would love her to stay with us.

She thanked Tibet Charity for providing her with a platform to be of some help to the people in need. She hoped that Tibet Charity will continue to bring sunshine to many more lives in the future, as it has in the past.

A small gift was presented to her on behalf of Tibet Charity and staff members.

We wish her a very safe and happy journey to Canada. We also hope that her presence will bring much more joy and happiness in her family and her new community in Canada. We wish her and her family every success, good health and prosperity in life.

Tibet Charity finances first edition of PADMA

Tibet Charity is happy to have financed the first edition of health Magazine PADMA published by KUNPHEN, an NGO working for the rehabilitation of drug addicts and working on creating awareness among the public regarding Drugs and HIV.

This magazine has been started with the sole aim of creating public awareness among the public regarding the ill effects of drug usages. The magazine also aims to teach the youth who are already into drugs the ways to get out of the addiction.

There are also quite a number of articles on HIV. Its causes and preventions are explained in a very simple way so that everyone can understand. They hope to create awareness among the public

– especially the youths regarding this dreaded disease.

We are very happy to have been able to finance it as we are very much worried about the growing incidence of drug addiction among the youths and growing number of people with HIV.

We hope with the publication of this magazine, the people in general and the youths in particular will be more careful in their attitudes towards drugs and HIV.

We wish the magazine every success.

We thank Health Section of Tibet Charity Denmark for kindly funding the project.
