| Chairperson, Save Tibet Austria Visits Tibetan grandparents. | ||||
We are very happy to welcome Mrs. Elisabeth Zimmerman, the Chairperson of Save Tibet Austria, and her husband. In spite of their very tight schedule they have kindly taken some time out to visit Tibet Charity. Various activities undertaken by Tibet Charity for the Welfare of the poor and needy Tibetans in India were explained to them during the meeting with us. They showed deep appreciation for our programs and assured us of help when we need it in the future. |
In the last two years they have generously assisted us in providing scholarships to four students and in adopting five Tibetan elders who lacked means of support. While she was in Dharamsala she took time to visit these elders in their homes. They in turn were very happy to see her and expressed their gratitude to her, to Save Tibet Austria and to the individual sponsors for their kind help. She also came across a very poor Tibetan at Forsyth Ganj Dharamsala who she very kindly decided to adopt as well. |
Tibet Charity India gives profuse thanks to Save Tibet Austria and other sponsors for extending their support to us in our mission to help the poorest and the neediest members of our society. We especially thank Mrs. Elisabeth Zimmerman for her personal involvement and her initiative in helping us to help others. |

| Some poor and needy Tibetans in Orissa received new bedding materials. | ||||
|
During the visit of the Director to Tibetan Settlement at Orissa he found that some of the elderly Tibetans living in the settlement do not have proper bedding materials. They either sleep on hard wooden beds or do not have anything worth calling a blanket.
|
So in order to help these people to get a more comfortable and relaxing sleep some bedding materials such as bed sheets, mattresses and pillows were brought there and distributed to the needy Tibetans through the Tibetan settlement officer.
We thank Tibet Charity in Denmark for their kind help. |

| Tibet Charity supports Old People’s home at Tibetan Settlement Tezu. | ||||
We are very happy to be able to support the old people’s home and elders living in the OPH at Tezu. We initially found that the OPH was facing a water shortage due to the malfunctioning of the old water pump. On top of that we found the water pipes were very old and water was leaking in many places. Because of all these problems the elders who could barely walk had to travel quite a distance to fetch water. |
Now that we have been able to replace the water pump and the broken water pipes they receive a continuous flow of water and the people are very thankful that they don’t have to face water shortages anymore. Besides the above the elderly people were also provided with some new clothes and mosquito nets. We were told that they had not received any new clothes for the last few years and so were wearing very old and torn clothes. |
As the area has many mosquitoes in the summer causing the spread of malaria among the residents, we hope the mosquito nets will help them especially at night to get a good sleep. We hope they will also help prevent the spread of malaria among the elders at the OPH. We thank Tibet Charity Denmark for their kind financial support. |

| A Tibetan hermit meets American grand daughter. | ||||
A Vietnamese American, born in Vietnam and brought up in America, was very happy to meet her adopted grandparent who is a hermit in the mountains of Dharamsala. |
Being a refugee herself initially she is overwhelmed to be supporting a Tibetan refugee who she considers her Tibetan grandfather. She came all the way to Dharamsala specifically to meet him and on arrival hiked through the jungle to reach him in his house of meditation. He too was very happy to see her and to know that he has someone who he can call a part of his family. |
She was accompanied by her husband who was also delighted to meet the grandparent. They have also decided to sponsor one student, providing a scholarship so that he can pursue a professional course. We thank them for their kind visit and for all their support. We wish them all the best in their lives. |

| The Director returns after his visit to two Tibetan Settlements. | ||||
The Director visited the Tibetan Settlements at Orissa and Bhandra from the 2nd of March to the 9th of March 2008. During his visit to these two Tibetan Settlements he met the elderly people being supported by Tibet Charity. |
During the meeting he inquired after their wellbeing. He also took the opportunity to introduce the various activities of Tibet Charity to the public. The elderly people being supported by Tibet Charity were very happy to see someone representing their sponsors coming to see them in their house. They all expressed their gratitude to all the help being rendered by Tibet Charity. In the Tibetan Settlement at Orissa he requested a Settlement Officer to see the possibility of bringing electricity into some of the houses of the elderly people where electricity could not be installed right from the beginning due to the financial problems. He also distributed bedding materials to some people having no proper mattresses and blankets. |
He was very well received in both the Tibetan Settlements for which Tibet Charity wishes to offer thanks to the respective settlement Officer and the concerned staff.
